- We never sell or rent your personal information.
- Some service providers may process data outside Canada.
- You can ask to access, correct or delete your information.
1 Who we are
DoorLiftIQ is a Canadian smart garage door opener brand operated by LiftIQ Door System Inc. This policy explains how we handle personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
2 Information you give us
We collect only what we need to respond to you and run our dealer programme:
- Quote requests: name, email, phone, customer type, city, postal code, the products you select and any notes.
- Dealer applications: business name, contact details, business address, business type and the information you choose to add.
- Dealer portal accounts: sign-in email and a securely hashed password, plus orders and warranty claims you submit.
- Emails you send us: whatever you include in your message.
3 Information collected through the AI chatbot
Our website chatbot answers product and support questions. When you use it, the questions you type and the answers shown are processed to generate a response.
- Please do not enter payment details, passwords or other sensitive information into the chat.
- Chat content may be processed by an AI service provider acting on our behalf.
- We use chat content only to answer your question and to improve our support content.
4 Information collected automatically
When you visit the website, our hosting provider and the services the site uses automatically record basic technical information, such as:
- your IP address and approximate location derived from it
- browser type, device type and operating system
- pages visited, date and time, and the page that referred you
- error and security logs used to keep the site running and protect it from abuse
We use this information to operate, secure and improve the website. We do not use it to identify you personally unless required to investigate misuse.
5 How we use your information
- To reply to enquiries and prepare quotations.
- To review dealer applications and manage dealer accounts.
- To process orders, deliveries and warranty claims.
- To provide product and technical support.
- To send commercial emails only where you have consented, as required by Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL).
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
6 Consent
By submitting a form or using the chatbot, you consent to our use of the information for the purpose described on that form or in this policy. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing info@doorliftiq.com, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide a service, such as a dealer account.
7 Service providers and processing outside Canada
We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate, and only as much as they need. These may include website hosting, email delivery, form-handling and AI chatbot services.
Some of these providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. When that happens, the information is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts and authorities. We require our providers to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.
8 How we protect information
- The website is served over encrypted HTTPS connections.
- Dealer and staff passwords are stored only as secure hashes, never in plain text.
- Access to personal information is limited to staff who need it for their role.
- Staff accounts to the administration area are protected with two-step verification.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information in our care.
9 Cookies
The website uses a small number of functional cookies. The dealer portal and administration area use a session cookie so you stay signed in; it is marked HttpOnly and Secure and is removed when you sign out or close your browser. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
10 How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law:
- Quote requests and general enquiries: kept while we are in contact with you and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Dealer records, orders and invoices: kept for the period required by Canadian tax and business-records law (generally at least six years).
- Warranty records: kept for as long as the warranty applies.
- Technical and security logs: kept for a limited period, then deleted.
When information is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymised.
11 Your rights: access, correction and deletion
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@doorliftiq.com with your request. We will respond within 30 days and may need to confirm your identity first.
We may not be able to delete information we are legally required to keep, such as invoices and tax records. Where that applies, we will tell you what we must keep and why.
